Quantum mechanics is the fundamental theory of the structures physical processes at the microscopic, i.e. molecular, atomic or nuclear, scales. It is crucial for the understanding of particle physics, astrophysics and cosmology. And it is certainly one of the greatest adventures in the history of human intellect.

We therefore propose to all of our students an introduction to the ideas of quantum mechanics, to its problems and to its basic concepts. This course has links with the courses on pure and applied mathematics (probability) which are taught during the same period.
